Graphics: Great graphics
aren't everything but it sure can
help a game out, and boy did it
ever in Speed Devils. The
detail on all the cars is
amazing. The levels
themselves look superb, detailed
all the way down to the bay
hous's porch and especially on
the Louisiana's Tornado track.
So much detail in this game
made it great and more fun.
Gameplay: If you have ever
played a racing game before,
these control will fall instantly
comfortable to you. All you
really have to do is press the
gas button and go. Not too
much depth there but who needs
depth for controls anyway? This
racer feels identical to Beetle
Adventure Racing (BAR) even down
to the alternative routes and
secrets that you can find on all
the levels
AI: Once again,
identical to BAR. Although
sometimes you find yourself
racing alone especially in the
early stages of your championship
run, because there are two types
of racers, slow ones, and fast
ones. Either you are in
first, racing yourself, or in the
back of the pack racing yourself.
Not too much fun. I want a chance
to run people off the road or ram
them into a building and stuff
like that. But it is fun
anyway.
Ingenuity: Just another BAR,
or a California Speed
right,
wrong. Many,
many different modes and
objectives. The Vendettas are
really cool because when you are
in your garage fixing up your
car, a person walks up to you and
makes a vendetta, in which winner
of the bet takes both cars. Now
this is not something that you
want to do right away, especially
if he has a faster car. But
if you think you can do it go for
it. Then afterwards you get
his car and can sell your and his
to buy a new one. The betting is
fun and the excuses they give for
loosing the race are funny too.
Fun: This game never
gets old. With all the secrets
and different bets being offered,
how could it? The game
hasn't got a lot of publicity,
but it would have to be one
of the top 5 DC games
out. BAR never got old, and
neither should Speed Devils. Just
too many things to be done and
all the cars that you have to buy
that are super expensive, well at
least without the extra money
codes which I admit I used. You
can just go out in the Nevada
dessert and run your car off the
hover dam just to see how bad you
can mess up your car. Great
game!
