Graphics- Great graphics,
arcade perfect and then some, but
nothing revolutionary. The
Dreamcast has no problems
handling these graphics, with
next to NO slowdown, See if the
N64 (Yeesh!) or PSX (Double
Yeesh!) can do that! Superb 3D
graphics, I believe the US
Powerstone is a bit cleaned up
from the Japanese and European
versions, but I'm not totally
sure, I don't have the import
versions. Really easy to get into
this game and enjoy it as well
with such great graphics as only
the Dreamcast can deliver.
Gameplay- Straight from the
Arcade, to the Dreamcast. Unlike
Marvel Vs. CAPCOM, this is one
capcom game you CAN play easily
with the standard control pad.
Fun and responsive, gameplay is
great. Also another plus, you can
go just about anywhere in the
stages, you wanna go up on that
ledge? No problem, just jump for
it! Many different stages to
battle in and on. Nothing short
of amazing, since this is a first
for CAPCOM, I can't really
compare it to any of CAPCOM's
creations so far. As you get
farther in the game, you can
unlock new items, options and VMU
mini-games, as I will
explain later in this review.
A.I.- With adjustable
difficulty, you can choose from
holy geez, were did he come from,
to an average, not too easy, not
too hard difficulty. Really good
AI for a fighting game, although
once you beat it about 4 times,
you get to see the pattern for
each character. The final boss
Valgas is a good and evenly
difficult character in the game,
and a really good person to use
once you unlock him, strong and
quick, a lethal combination in
the hands of a skilled gamer. One
star is very easy, while 8 stars
is an extremely challenging
difficulty, one that which I
still have not yet beaten, but I
have almost beaten the game on
this difficulty many times.
Ingenuity- Taking a few
elements from the Square fighting
game Ehrgeiz (3D arenas, where
you can go just about anywhere),
this game is a really good base
for things to come, with all the
weapons you can pick up and the
'Pick up anything and go
anywhere' style of fighting game
is a welcome change in my
opinion, as opposed to most of
the run of the mill 2D or 3D
fighters out today. Some nice
combos that are really flashy,
and great looking too! I wouldn't
mind seeing more games with this
setup and ingenuity of Power
Stone. Thanks CAPCOM!
Fun- This game is
REALLY fun when you first get it,
but as many games, as you
have it for longer and longer,
its gets rather boring after many
days of play, probably better if
you were to rent this game if you
really want to play it. VMU games
are pretty fun, but take up alot
of memory =(. Also fun to unlock
everything in the 'World of Power
Stone' book, as you achieve
certain criteria, you unlock
different stuff like new Weapons,
extra options, VMU mini games
that also unlock new items and
options, and boss characters:
Cracken, Valgas, and eventually,
Final Valgas.
