Official Dreamcast Magazine Demo #3
Zombie Revenge
  • Developer: Sega
  • Supports: VMU, Jump Pack, Light Gun, Fishing Controller, 2 players

Well, I myself, being one of the greatest HOTD fans on earth am particularly looking forward to this game. When DCM#3 arrived in my P.O.Box and I saw Zombie Revenge on the demo I nearly had a heart attack. The demo let's you do alot...well to me it is alot, to other's it seems quite short but the point is, at least it's playable. Choose from three of the main characters (you can even select their alternate costumes by holding start while selecting them) and take to the streets in an attempt to uncover all of The House of the Dead's story...oh, and kill zombies, lots and lots of zombies. Many weapons are available like shotguns, machine guns, pipes, and of course your good ol' pistol and physical attacks. Along the way you will save a hostage (a rather attractive one at that), fight the first boss, and meet up with one of the main characters from the game at the end. Oh yes, you can also pick one out of three cards at the end of the demo, I know what these are for...but I'll let you be surprised. You can even play with a light gun! It seems a bit cumbersome to play this type of game with a light gun (just to anyone who doesn't know, Zombie Revenge is, unlike the other two HOTD's, a light gun shooter. It is a beat-em-up similar to Dynamite Cop) but once you get the hang of it it's as easy as playing with a controller...this also helps if you want to play 2P but you don't want to shell out another $30 for a second controller (if you only have one that is). Right down to it, this game is gonna be sweet and the demo kicks ass. I'm getting this game, no doubt. Are you?

This game is alot of fun but the graphics absolutely suck. Well, they don't suck...let's just say Dreamcast is capable of far better things. You take the role of a giant mech in this demo and roam throughout a huge city..killing other mechs and attempting to destroy three power generators. Near the end of the demo you will encounter a boss type mech...he isn't very hard. I really don't have much to say about this demo...um...it's fun running over cars and taunting the people on the grouns but shooting at them, hehe. That's about it.

Street Fighter Alpha 3

  • Developer: Capcom
  • Supports: VMU, Jump Pack, Arcade Stick, 4 players (I believe)

Like some of you know, I'm not the biggest fan of fighters but for some reason I am in love with this demo. It really reminds me of my old gaming days...back in 92-93. When I used to play alot of 2D fighting games...but then for some reason I stopped. Last 2D fighter I played was Street Fighter II Turbo, long time ago, eh? Well, this game has brought back all my old tastes...I even am getting Marvel vs. Capcom just because I played this demo...and the arcade stick, hehe. Ok, to the actual demo now. You can select either arcade mode or internet mode (both are somewhat self explanatory). In arcade mode you can select either Ryo or Guile, and there six alternate costumes. A little thing you can do that's kinda cool is look at the other characters and their alternate costumes. Ken has a white costume just like Ryu's! Ok, all of the two fighters moves are there, Hadoken's, Sonic Boom's, all the old moves...just like it was last I left. Of course, what is a sequel without new moves? Crap...that's what. Super moves are in there and all...just like the other Alpha's. I prefer to play Ryu, black costume, Saikyo style, V-ism, Turbo 2. So many options before a battle, hehe. The internet option is kind of restricted due to the facts that, it's a demo and the internet capabilities of the Dreamcast aren't up yet. But you can register your character and his/her stats and go up against the master, which is quite ironically, Dan. But regardless of it's the human punching bag or not, he presents somewhat of a challenge. You don't really get anything for beating him, it's a demo after all. It's just an added bonus in my opinion. Anyway, bottom line is, this game is very cool, the sprites look great, the music is pretty good and sets you in the mood, and everything inbetween is fun. I might get this game...it depends on my financial situation at the time it comes out.

Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing

  • Developer: Ubi soft

  • Supports: VMU, 1 player

Ugh...this game is, in all honesty, quite boring. There is nothing "extreme" about it...nothing inovative, nothing new. The only thing different from this and other motorcycles racers is a slight leap in graphics. It controls well, I guess. The most fun part to me was trying to wreck it on a guard rail and making the guy fall off a cliff to his death...

TNN Motorsports Hardcore Heat

  • Developer: ASC

  • Supports: VMU, Jump Pack, 4 players

This game kinda sucks. That's my honest opinion. In the demo you have the choice between two cars (one of which's drive sounds a bit on the gay side). Um...quite frankly, like I said, this game sucks. No need in saying anymore about it.
