Graphics-The graphics in this game aren't bad, but I would think that Capcom would have taken the time to improve the graphics in this game slightly, Although I have to admit that it is nice to see a 2-D game in a 3-D world. The 2-D sprites look great, they move nicely, and they are extremely detailed. None of the animation from the Arcade version is missing in the home version. The character designs are spectacular (Capcom, they're great aren't they?). Although this game has some flashy graphics it still doesn’t keep up with today’s standards. (i.e. Soul Calibur)
Gameplay- Gameplay is where “Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super heroes” really makes up for its lack of amazing graphics. This game is easy enough for a person who has never played a fighting game in their life, yet it is also deep enough for an experienced fighting game fan. The characters respond great and most of the moves are really simple to perform. There are plenty of different game modes to keep you occupied for a while, like, of course, an arcade and versus mode. Also added to this game, just for the Dreamcast, is a new mode called “cross fever”. This mode allows 4 players to battle it out tag team style. Its good to see that Capcom went a little further to bring us a better than Arcade port.
A.I.- The AI in this
game is tough. Like all fighting
games you can set the level that
you want your enemy to beat your
ass at. Capcom uses 8 stars, and
the more stars that are lit up,
the harder your enemies are.
Also, as you progress through the
game, your enemies get harder.
Basically like every other
fighting game.
Ingenuity- This game is
nothing new. Now don't get me
wrong, this game is more fun than
hell is hot, but there is
nothing revolutionary here. This
game doesn't bring anything into
the 2D-fighter genre that wasn't
already there.
Fun- The bottom line is that this game is fun, especially the versus and cross fever modes. Some of the fights you get to later on in the game can be pretty tuff, and can get pretty frustrating. The end leader of this game is one of the hardest end bosses I have ever fought in a fighting game. One of my only serious problems with this game are the endings. The ends are really, really bad. You would think that Capcom would have put a little more effort into them. Other than that, this game is pretty good and worth the money, if you are a diehard 2-D fighting game fan.
